The main purpose of this policy brief is to look at what policies are needed to maintain high-quality and equitable access to digital learning, especially in light of experience from responses to the COVID-19 pandemic. A fines del mes pasado, las universidades anunciaron que están vendiendo edX a uno de esos proveedores con fines de lucro por 800 millones de dólares.</p><p>edX se había quedado atrás de rivales como Coursera, una plataforma similar fundada por profesores de la Universidad de Stanford, en recaudación de fondos y alcance, aunque todavía cuenta con 35 millones de usuarios y más de 3.000 cursos.</p><p>Los líderes de edX citaron la pandemia como un factor que llevó a la venta. "COVID impulsó una explosión en el aprendizaje remoto, que estimuló enormes inversiones en los competidores comerciales de edX", escribió el presidente del MIT, L. The state, which has funded and promoted these opportunities for students to earn college credit during high school over the past five years, sought evidence of the programs' effects on participants' high school graduation rates, postsecondary enrollment rates, and enrollment rates in developmental education courses in college. The study found that male, economically disadvantaged, and racial/ethnic minority students were underrepresented in accelerated college credit programs. Participation in these programs had positive effects on students' rates of high school graduation and postsecondary enrollment. Among students in the cohort who enrolled in Rhode Island public colleges, participation was associated with lower rates of developmental education course enrollment in the first year of college.
